drx-InactivityTimer
DRX Inactivity Timer
Timer specifying how long the UE remains awake after successfully decoding a PDCCH scheduling initial data.
Technical Explanation
Whenever a UE decodes a PDCCH grant scheduling initial transmission (new data) on PDSCH or PUSCH, it starts or restarts drx-InactivityTimer. As long as continuous packets arrive, the timer is repeatedly restarted, keeping the UE in continuous reception. Once traffic pauses and the timer expires, the UE enters DRX sleep.
Key Functions
- Restarts upon decoding any PDCCH grant for initial transmission
- Maintains continuous reception during active data download/upload bursts
- Triggers transition back into DRX sleep when data traffic ceases
