DMRS pattern grouping reference subcarriers in pairs supporting up to 12 orthogonal antenna ports for multi-user MIMO.
Technical Explanation
DMRS Type 2 places reference subcarriers in 2 pairs per PRB (4 out of 12 subcarriers per PRB). In single-symbol configuration it supports up to 6 orthogonal antenna ports; in double-symbol configuration it supports up to 12 orthogonal antenna ports, making it ideal for high-density Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO).
