Cross-Division Duplex (XDD)
Sub-Band Full Duplex (XDD)
5G-Advanced technology allowing simultaneous transmission and reception within different sub-bands of the same TDD carrier.
Technical Explanation
In conventional TDD, an entire carrier is either Downlink or Uplink at any given moment. Subband Full Duplex (XDD) divides a wide TDD carrier into non-overlapping sub-bands, transmitting Downlink on one subband while simultaneously receiving Uplink on another, slashing uplink latency and extending coverage.
Key Functions
- Enables simultaneous DL and UL transmission within the same TDD carrier
- Divides carrier bandwidth into simultaneous non-overlapping DL and UL sub-bands
- Dramatically reduces TDD uplink latency and boosts cell-edge uplink throughput
