Closed Loop Power Control

TPC Closed Loop Power Control

Real-time transmit power adjustments signaled via Transmit Power Control (TPC) commands in DCI.

Technical Explanation

Closed loop power control dynamically refines UE transmit power to counter rapid channel fading. The gNodeB measures received SINR on uplink DMRS/SRS and issues 2-bit TPC commands embedded in DCI Format 0_0/0_1 (for PUSCH) or Format 1_0/1_1 (for PUCCH), adjusting power either accumulatively (+-1, +-3 dB) or absolutely.

Key Functions

  • Issues 2-bit Transmit Power Control (TPC) commands inside DCI grants
  • Supports accumulative step adjustments (+-1 dB, +-3 dB) or absolute values
  • Tracks fast fading and interference variations at millisecond speed
