Open interface between Non-RT RIC (in SMO) and Near-RT RIC for policy management and ML deployment.
Technical Explanation
The A1 interface enables the Non-RT RIC to deliver intent-based policy guidance to the Near-RT RIC. It supports three core services: A1 Policy Management (setting optimization goals and bounds for xApps), A1 Enrichment Information (injecting external contextual data like weather), and A1 AI/ML Model Management.
Key Functions
- Connects Non-RT RIC in management plane to Near-RT RIC in edge controller
- Transfers intent-based optimization policies and operational bounds to xApps
- Distributes trained AI/ML inference models for near-real-time execution
