Zero-Power Ambient RFID Transceiver

6G-Integrated Ultra-High Frequency Ambient RFID Reader and Tag

Native integration of UHF RFID protocols within the 6G physical layer allowing smartphones to read passive tags over long ranges.

Technical Explanation

In 5G, RFID required separate external proprietary reader hardware. In 6G, ambient IoT and RFID protocols are standardized directly into the 3GPP physical and MAC specifications. A 6G smartphone uses its native transceivers to transmit carrier waves and decode modulated backscatter from passive tags embedded in retail products, luggage, and pharmaceuticals up to 15 meters away, eliminating proprietary reader guns.

Key Functions

  • Reads passive tags natively using standard 6G smartphone RF hardware
  • Achieves reading ranges over 15 meters using coherent beamforming
  • Standardizes RFID communication within 3GPP Rel-19/20 specifications
  • Enables automated real-time consumer and industrial asset tracking
