Technical Explanation
At frequencies above 100 GHz, conventional metallic copper antennas suffer from severe surface roughness conductor losses and low radiation efficiency. The Ceramic Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) utilizes high-permittivity, low-loss ceramic materials (such as alumina or zirconia). Lacking metallic ohmic resistance, it achieves radiation efficiencies exceeding 85% at 140 GHz while fitting into micro-bezel recesses in smartphone frames.
