Unsourced Random Access
An uncoordinated information-theoretic access paradigm where the network decodes an unordered list of transmitted messages without knowing device identities.
Technical Explanation
In conventional cellular protocols, every transmission includes an explicit device ID so the tower knows who is speaking. Unsourced Random Access (URA) re-imagines massive access: all devices share the exact same codebook. The base station decodes an unordered list of transmitted data payloads without caring which specific device sent which message, drastically shrinking header overhead and supporting millions of sporadic IoT transmitters.
