Integrated optical receiver on the smartphone capable of receiving single-photon quantum cryptographic keys from indoor optical transmitters.
Technical Explanation
While fiber-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) is deployed in core networks, extending quantum keys directly to mobile handsets provides absolute physical-layer security. The smartphone QKD key receiver integrates a single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) detector into the phone bezel. When positioned under a secure indoor optical docking beacon, it captures BB84 or decoy-state polarized photons, generating provably uncrackable symmetric encryption keys stored in the phone's secure element.
