Micro-Doppler Sensing
Biometric & Kinematic Frequency Modulation Extraction
Detecting minute mechanical vibrations and human movements—such as chest wall breathing, heartbeats, and walking gait—from reflected cellular waves.
Technical Explanation
Beyond tracking bulk physical velocity, any moving component of a target (such as swinging arms of a pedestrian, rotating blades of a drone, or the rhythmic expansion of a human chest during breathing) introduces micro-frequency sidebands onto reflected radio waves. 6G base stations analyze these Micro-Doppler signatures using spectrograms and time-frequency transforms, enabling contactless patient respiration monitoring, fall detection in smart homes, and distinguishing birds from hostile drones.
Key Functions
- Non-invasive, contactless continuous monitoring of human breathing and heart rates
- Distinguishing birds, drones, animals, and humans based on kinematic gait signatures
- In-home elderly fall detection and gesture control without invasive cameras
- Classifying industrial machine bearing vibrations to detect impending motor failures
- High-resolution spectrogram analysis executed directly inside 6G-gNB edge processors
