Miniaturized hardware circuit enabling a mobile terminal to transmit and receive concurrently on the exact same frequency band.
Technical Explanation
In-Band Full-Duplex (IBFD) doubles spectral efficiency by eliminating separate uplink and downlink time/frequency slots. While feasible on large base stations, implementing IBFD on a smartphone is challenging because the handset's own high-power transmitter overwhelms its sensitive receiver. The handset canceller combines multi-stage analog domain RF cancellation (using auxiliary multi-tap delay lines) with digital baseband neural cancellation to suppress self-interference by over 110 dB inside a compact smartphone form factor.
