Technical Explanation
As humanity establishes permanent bases on the Moon (Artemis) and Mars, legacy radio communications provide bandwidths of only a few megabits per second. Deep-Space Optical Communications (DSOC) integrates near-infrared high-power pulse-position modulation (PPM) lasers with 6G satellite ground stations. Delivering gigabit broadband across hundreds of millions of kilometers of interplanetary vacuum, it streams high-definition video and scientific telemetry from Mars back to Earth.
