Cryptographic Micro-Tokens
Single-Use Session Tokens for Ambient IoT
Ultra-compact, single-use cryptographic authorization tokens that allow battery-free ambient tags to verify commands with minimal computation.
Technical Explanation
Ambient IoT tags harvest micro-watts of power and lack the computational capacity to perform complex asymmetric cryptography. Cryptographic Micro-Tokens utilize ultra-compact hash-based Message Authentication Codes (HMAC) with pre-shared one-time pads. Squeezed into 32 to 64 bits, these single-use tokens allow battery-free retail and logistics tags to verify that a read/write command originated from an authorized base station without draining harvested energy reserves.
Key Functions
- Ultra-compact 32-to-64 bit single-use cryptographic authorization tokens
- Feasible for battery-free Ambient IoT tags operating on micro-watts of harvested energy
- Preventing unauthorized reading, cloning, or tampering with retail and logistics sensor tags
- One-time cryptographic rolling tokens immune to packet replay and snooping attacks
- Native physical layer integration into 6G ambient discovery and interrogation frames
