GitOps in 6G Telecom
Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment and GitOps for Autonomous Telco
Software engineering methodology where the entire 6G network configuration, software images, and slice policies are versioned in Git repositories.
Technical Explanation
In 6G, the telecommunication network is 100% software-defined, cloud-native, and containerized. Under GitOps, the entire desired state of the 6G radio, transport, and core network is stored in version-controlled Git repositories. Automated CI/CD pipelines run automated regression tests on digital twin networks, and Kubernetes operators reconcile differences in real time, enabling zero-downtime daily software updates across thousands of live base stations.
Key Functions
- Versions all 6G network configurations and slice policies in secure Git repositories
- Automates daily, zero-downtime software patches and microservice rollouts
- Tests all software updates in simulated digital twin environments before production
- Enables one-click instant rollbacks if unexpected network anomalies occur
