Tracking Reference Signal
CSI-RS resource set configured for fine time and frequency tracking and delay spread estimation.
Technical Explanation
A Tracking Reference Signal (TRS) is a specialized non-zero-power CSI-RS resource configured over 2 consecutive slots with 2 OFDM symbols per slot. It provides the UE with dense time-frequency reference points to track oscillator drift, Doppler shift, and channel delay spread.
Key Functions
- Maintains fine symbol timing and subcarrier frequency synchronization
- Estimates channel Doppler spread and delay spread profile
- Configured as a periodic burst (e.g. 10ms, 20ms, or 40ms period)
