SRS for Non-Codebook

SRS for Non-Codebook Based Transmission

SRS resource set where UE determines its own uplink precoding based on downlink CSI-RS measurements.

Technical Explanation

In non-codebook transmission, the UE measures a non-zero power CSI-RS resource, determines its own preferred uplink precoding weights, precodes up to 4 SRS resources accordingly, and transmits them. The gNodeB measures the SRS resources and selects the best resource via an SRS Resource Indicator (SRI) in DCI.

Key Functions

  • Enables UE-derived precoding for uplink transmission
  • Uses SRI (SRS Resource Indicator) in DCI to select transmitted layers
  • Relies on downlink CSI-RS reciprocity for UE precoder calculation
