HST Multi-TRP Coordination

High-Speed Train Multi-TRP Doppler & Handover Architecture

Tracks high-speed trains travelling at 350-500 km/h across trackside distributed antennas, applying pre-compensation to cancel massive Doppler shifts.

Technical Explanation

Bullet trains crossing dense cell borders generate extreme Doppler shifts and frequent handovers that overwhelm standard radios. Rel-18 HST Multi-TRP standardizes a cell-free topology along railway tracks where adjacent trackside TRPs share the same physical cell ID, coordinating transmission to pre-compensate Doppler shifts based on train speed and position.

Key Functions

  • Eliminates cellular handovers along high-speed rail corridors using Shared-Cell IDs
  • Pre-compensates severe Doppler shifts at vehicle speeds up to 500 km/h
  • Maintains continuous 5G gigabit connectivity for train passengers and control systems
  • Coordinates multi-TRP coherent beam handoffs smoothly along linear track tracks
