In Sidelink Mode 2, vehicles allocate transmission resources autonomously without base station coordination. Standard sensing mechanisms suffer from half-duplex blindness and hidden-node collisions. Rel-18 AI Sidelink scheduling employs deep reinforcement learning on the vehicle modem to learn traffic periodicity and geographical patterns, predicting clear spectrum slots with high reliability.
