PUCCH Format 4
Long PUCCH Format with OCC
Long 4-14 symbol PUCCH carrying large UCI payloads on 1 PRB with frequency-domain Orthogonal Cover Code (OCC).
Technical Explanation
PUCCH Format 4 spans 4 to 14 symbols on 1 PRB. Like Format 3 it carries UCI payloads >2 bits, but applies a frequency-domain Orthogonal Cover Code (OCC length 2 or 4) prior to DFT precoding, enabling multiple UEs to share the same single PRB resource.
Key Functions
- Carries UCI payloads >2 bits on a single PRB
- Multiplexes up to 4 UEs on the same time-frequency resource via OCC
- Provides power-efficient coverage with DFT-s-OFDM
