5G Equipment Identity Register
Security database verifying the status of the User Equipment's Permanent Equipment Identifier (PEI / IMEI).
Technical Explanation
The 5G-EIR exposes the N5g-eir interface to the AMF. It cross-checks the UE's PEI (IMEI/IMEISV) against global operator blacklists, whitelists, and greylists to block stolen, fraudulent, or non-certified mobile devices from accessing the network.
Key Functions
- Validates device hardware authenticity via PEI / IMEI check
- Maintains global white, grey, and black equipment lists
- Blocks stolen, blacklisted, or rogue devices from registering on 5G
