CM-CONNECTED

CONNECTED Connection Management State

Connection Management state where an active N1 signaling connection exists between UE and AMF.

Technical Explanation

In CM-CONNECTED, the UE has established an active RRC connection over the radio link and the gNodeB maintains an active N2 NGAP connection to the AMF. User plane data can be transferred immediately without paging, and the network tracks UE location at cell granularity.

Key Functions

  • Active N1 NAS signaling and N2 NGAP connection established
  • Enables immediate user plane data transfer without paging delay
  • Tracks UE location at individual cell level via handover notifications
