Cryptographic protocols allowing devices to prove assertions (e.g., 'device possesses valid license') without revealing any underlying private data.

Technical Explanation

In smart cities and connected health applications, devices must prove authorizations without leaking citizen privacy. Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs, such as zk-SNARKs and Bulletproofs) allow a device to mathematically prove that a statement is true without revealing the secret behind it. A connected vehicle can prove to a municipal roadside unit that it has paid road taxes and is registered to drive in the zone without disclosing its owner's name, license plate, or home address.
