sr-ProhibitTimer

Scheduling Request Prohibit Timer

Timer preventing the UE from repeatedly transmitting Scheduling Requests and flooding the control channel.

Technical Explanation

When the UE transmits an SR on PUCCH, it starts the sr-ProhibitTimer. While the timer is running, the UE is prohibited from transmitting another SR on subsequent PUCCH occasions. This prevents control channel congestion while allowing the gNodeB scheduler time to process the request and allocate an uplink grant.

Key Functions

  • Prevents rapid repetitive SR transmissions on PUCCH
  • Throttles uplink control channel signaling load
  • Configured per SR configuration in RRC SchedulingRequestConfig IE
