Technical Explanation

Packet Delay Variation (jitter) forces video decoders to maintain large jitter buffers, introducing unwanted latency into interactive communications. Rel-18 introduces jitter mitigation algorithms in the gNodeB scheduler that dynamically adjust transmission grant priorities, delivering video packets with deterministic sub-millisecond arrival predictability.
