Periodicity-Matched Configured Uplink Grants for XR Pose Data
Pre-allocates periodic uplink transmission slots matching headset motion tracking sensor rates (e.g. 250-1000 Hz), avoiding scheduling request delays.
Technical Explanation
Virtual reality headsets constantly transmit 6-DoF (Six Degrees of Freedom) head and hand pose coordinates to edge GPUs. Using standard Scheduling Requests (SR) adds 5 ms of latency to every sensor packet. Rel-18 Configured Grant enhancements allow sub-millisecond periodic uplink allocations that let headsets transmit pose packets immediately without requesting grants.
