Technical Explanation

When an autonomous robotaxi encounters an unprecedented construction detour or traffic police hand signals, it must safely hand over control to a remote human operator. Rel-18 defines Tele-Operated Driving (TOD) profiles that guarantee sub-10 ms round-trip steering and braking control combined with redundant multi-camera streaming.
