Allows vehicles, pedestrians, and robots to measure precise relative distance and angles directly peer-to-peer using Sidelink Positioning Reference Signals.
Technical Explanation
In tunnels, parking structures, and remote areas where base station signals cannot reach, terminals need to know their relative distance to avoid collisions. Rel-18 Sidelink Positioning introduces Sidelink Positioning Reference Signals (SL-PRS) over the PC5 interface, allowing cars and pedestrian devices to measure mutual distance and relative heading with decimeter accuracy.
