Sidelink Carrier Aggregation

Multi-Carrier Aggregation Across Sidelink PC5 Channels

Combines multiple sidelink frequency channels simultaneously, achieving multi-gigabit direct vehicle-to-vehicle sensor and video sharing.

Technical Explanation

Connected autonomous vehicles must share raw high-definition LiDAR point clouds and 4K camera feeds with nearby vehicles to see through obstacles. Rel-18 Sidelink Carrier Aggregation bonds multiple sidelink component carriers (in both licensed and unlicensed spectrum), delivering multi-gigabit direct data throughput between moving vehicles.

Key Functions

  • Aggregates multiple direct sidelink component carriers into a single logical pipe
  • Achieves multi-gigabit transmission speeds directly between moving autonomous vehicles
  • Transports high-density raw LiDAR point clouds and 360-degree video sensor feeds
  • Enhances collective environmental perception across cooperative vehicle fleets
