Uses satellite broadcast signaling to synchronize and allocate radio resources for direct peer-to-peer communication between rescue workers in disaster zones.
Technical Explanation
When hurricanes or earthquakes destroy terrestrial cell towers, local first responders lose both communication and network synchronization. In Rel-18, satellites broadcast common clock synchronization and Sidelink resource allocation maps, enabling rescue workers to communicate directly device-to-device (PC5 interface) across miles of terrain.
