Exploits physical reciprocity of angles and multi-path delays between uplink and downlink in FDD bands to construct massive MIMO precoders without extensive feedback.
Technical Explanation
In FDD systems, instantaneous fading differs between uplink and downlink, but the underlying physical paths (angles of arrival/departure and multi-path time delays) are reciprocal. Rel-18 formalizes Angle-Delay Reciprocity in Type II CSI codebooks, allowing the gNodeB to infer spatial-frequency path structures from uplink sounding and only request small phase corrections from the terminal.
