NTN Timing Advance Offset

Common Timing Advance Offset (T_TAoffset)

Macro time offset broadcast by satellites compensating for immense 500 km - 35,000 km satellite propagation distances.

Technical Explanation

Standard cellular Timing Advance accommodates cell radii up to 100 km. In NTN, the satellite link distance spans thousands of kilometers, resulting in propagation delays of tens to hundreds of milliseconds. The satellite broadcasts a common timing advance offset (T_TAoffset), and the UE calculates its own differential TA.
