MCS-C-RNTI
Modulation Coding Scheme C-RNTI
Dedicated RNTI used to schedule ultra-reliable transmissions using low-spectral-efficiency 64QAM/URLLC MCS tables.
Technical Explanation
When configured by RRC, the gNodeB uses MCS-C-RNTI to scramble PDCCH DCIs for mission-critical transmissions. Receiving a grant scrambled with MCS-C-RNTI forces the UE to interpret the MCS field using 3GPP Low-SE MCS tables (Table 3), achieving BLERs as low as 10^-5.
Key Functions
- Directs UE to decode grants using specialized ultra-reliable 3GPP MCS tables
- Provides low spectral efficiency coding for 99.999% reliability targets
- Employed dynamically for mission-critical URLLC and control packets
